“How are you doin’ Michael? Wait, don’t answer that right now. Let me explain how you should feel.” Dev said with a smirk and just enough humor in his voice to take the edge off the situation. “You are riding the Earth, through time and space at roughly 67,000 miles an hour, and should be having the time of your life, right? The fact is you and your fellow travelers are special. There will never be another person on Earth like you, unless they figure out cloning and get cellular degeneration under control but that is a different story all together. Everyone is unique because the same configuration of chromosomes from the same donors, your parents, would be very unlikely, right? Then to add, there would need to be the same experiences and environment and a multitude of other factors that contributed to your personality, mood, behaviors, and physical appearance. You with me so far?”
“Yeah, I guess. Without cloning there is no chance of there being another me.”
“Good. All of this would be fine if you were still on Earth. Wait, before you start with all the questions you need to understand. The transfer is not permanent. However, by the time we return to Earth no one you knew will be alive.”
“You must be chiding me” Michael said as he rubbed the top of his head and looked at the Formica topped table. This guy is just messing with my head. He figures loner, new guy, out-of-towner and an easy target. “Well I know the town, or whatever you call this place is new to the area but I have not suffered any brain injury that makes me slow, mister.”
Oh you are such a tease! And it is about time that we move this forward...now it's getting really good...or are you just messing with my head...?
